If routines and habits of dating yourself aren’t already set into practice, the pressure of celebrating and loving yourself might feel overwhelming. The one person you can always count on (always and forever) is yourself, so prioritizing solo dates is a vital part of your self-care routine! 

Whether you are in a partnership or situationship, happily single, or eagerly looking for others to love: we’ve gotta say this practice is of utmost importance. So let’s begin to outline ideas, but don’t worry. We’ll start small.  

Schedule time for yourself. Even if you only have 20 minutes, set that aside and try to make the most of that moment. If you have to build a secret date night into something you’re already doing, make it explosive. For example, try taking a shower in the darkness or only with candlelight. Fully indulge in whatever you’re able to make happen.

Do you feel excited about a particular activity, show, or location even when you experience it alone? Plan that as part of or the main dish of your solo date. Dine in your favorite restaurant, go see a movie or live music, or visit a beautiful natural reserve nearby. 

Use this time alone to be selfish. For those with massive people-pleasing tendencies, this might be hard to do at first. With practice, these small moments will add up to something significant such as you asking more for what you want. 

Dress up for yourself. Wear something, anything that makes you feel good in your own skin. 

While this is only the beginning, it’s important to note that possibilities are endless. If you’re unsure of where to begin, ask yourself what is the best-case scenario of someone inviting you for a date? What would they ask to do? How would you be invited? How would you want to feel on the date? As silly as it sounds, do this now with yourself and have fun. ❤️
