Harold and Maude

Name a better love story than between a death-obsessed teen and a full-of-life grandma. This 70s film brings up all of the important questions surrounding life, death and love, with an incredible soundtrack and hilarious narrative.

the Goonies

Goonies never say die! Somehow, Fall has become the ultimate season to watch and rewatch this nostalgic film. You get beautiful scenes of Astoria, Oregon, and see a group of kids try to save their homes from foreclosure. While doing so, they discover an old treasure map which takes them on an adventure to discover a long-lost fortune.

Hocus Pocus

IFYK, but if you don’t know then now you have the chance to watch the original before the 2022 sequel. This makes our list for ultimate witchy films. Whether you’re curled up with a sweetie or wanting a cute solo date night, this is the one to stream. This ‘93 film follows a trio of witches who are resurrected by a teenage boy on Halloween night.

Mood: Nostalgic

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies

We had to get one DIY spookster in our list. This 1960’s film follows Jerry, who falls in love with a dancer he meets at a carnival. Because things can’t be easy and nice, complications arise between the dancer’s sister and Jerry, until Jerry becomes a zombie.

Mood: Campy

Beaches

Beaches follows the lives and an impactful friendship between two women. We felt it was necessary to get two amazing Bette Midler films on the list, so here’s your comfort choice.

Mood: Comforting

Grand Budapest Hotel

One of Wes Anderson’s greatest, the Grand Budapest Hotel is an all-encompassing delight for colder nights. This wild ride of a movie involves the theft and recovery of a priceless painting and the battle for a family fortune against the backdrop of a suddenly changing continent.

Mood: Daring 

Paprika

Paprika’s premise alone should make your eyes go wide. This a Japanese animated science fiction psychological thriller narrates a battle between a dream terrorist who steals a device that allows others to share their dreams and causes nightmares for people, and a research psychologist who enters the dream world and changes into Paprika, a dream detective, to investigate the cases.
