Color Me Rainbow -- A Week Of Portland Pride
We wait all year for Pride, so we might as well get the most out of it by stretching out the celebration for AS LONG AS WE POSSIBLY CAN! See below for a way to spend every day leading up to Pride. (For even more events: check out Thiswink.com.)
Saturday - June 11th
Magical Unicorn Ride: 2 PM at Colonel Summers Park
Ever wanted to roll around in sparkles and glitter and galavant like a unicorn? Today’s your chance, lovelies. Glitter, sidewalk chalk, candy, and music provided.
Northwest Gender Alliance: 2 PM at Q Center
Looking for something a little tamer that’s still in the vein of Pride? The Northwest Gender Alliance invites trans allies to come learn about the trans community. (Trans folks willing to shed some light on trans issues, also welcome.)
Sunday - June 12th
Secrets of Your Erotic Body: 6:30 PM at Catalyst - A Sex Positive Place
Your body has secrets that you don’t know about. And Amara Karuna (visiting from Hawaii!) wants to teach you how to find them using Taoist reflexology as it pertains to your genitals. (You want your genitals to be in functioning order for Pride, right?)
Switch Leather Meet & Greet: 7 PM at She Bop
Queer owned leather strap-on harness company Switch Leather is taking over Portland’s female friendly sex toy shop for the night. It’s free, so if you’ve been thinking about trying out pegging or strap-on play, tonight’s your chance to ask those questions the internet hasn’t been able to answer.
Monday - June 13th
Portland Rope Arts: 7 PM at Catalyst - A Sex Positive Place
If you’ve never been tied up before and don’t mind others treating you as a practice bunny, then simply show up, throw your arms in the air, and exclaim, “tie me!” (More or less.)
Tuesday - June 14th
Bi Bar: 8 PM at Crush Bar
Heteroflexible or curious? It’s Pride week, get out there! Buuuuut, if you’re not ready to swim in the rainbow waters just yet, Bi Bar does recur every month thanks to the lovely people at Bi Brigade.
Wednesday - June 15th
Lights Out: 7 PM at Hawks PDX
Ever navigate a men’s bathhouse in the dark? It’s fun! (I am not a man but can only imagine it to be so.) Plus, their set-up’s sort of like a labyrinth so extra chances you’ll get lost (and accidentally bump into really hot guys).
Thursday - June 16th
Frisky Whisker Pride: 8 PM at Stag
Do you like your men hairy and bearish? Frisky Whisker Pride flaunts a diverse group of gogo dudes in a body positive, non ageist (or body shaming) environment. DJ Buckmaster will be layin down the beats real thick.
Friday - June 17th
Cruisin at the Eagle: 9 PM at Eagle Portland
Leave your phones at home, kids (not really, just like, put them in your pockets or something), because tonight’s all about app-free cruising - classic leather bar style.
Saturday - June 18th
Pride Festival: 12 PM at Tom McCall Waterfront Park
For only $7 you can experience Portland Pride’s best, featuring tons of local vendors (food, beverages, sexy stuff, rainbow stuff, leather stuff, probably sparkly stuff), and more.
Trans Pride March: 2 PM at North Park Blocks
Greater Portland Trans Unity presents this day of visibility for Portland’s trans population and its many allies (I mean many, last year’s march drew over 2,000 attendees).
Portland Dyke March: 6 PM stay posted for step-off location
Calling all dykes! Flaunt your stuff tonight and represent Portland’s diverse and thriving dyke community at this annual march.
Blacklight Slide: 7 PM at Portland International Raceway
You’ve probably heard of Slip n Slide, but have you heard of BLACKLIGHT SLIDE?! It’s bigger. It glows. It’s lit up in neon for Portland Pride (in short, it’s way better).
Gaylabration: 10 PM at Crystal Ballroom
Portland Pride's annual dance party is not to miss! Celebrating the diversity of love and enhancing Portland's dance music scene with premier DJs and production, it's sure to deliver a night to remember!
Sunday - June 19th
Pride Parade: 11 AM at W Burnside and NW Park
It’s here! Whip out that outfit you’ve been putting together for like ever and hit the streets! (Or just wait at the Waterfront if you’re lazy but still want to participate.)
The Big Gay Boat Ride: 2:30 PM at Tom McCall Waterfront Park
Board the Portland Spirit for a boat ride of a lifetime. Featuring your favorite drag stars, a raffle from Donut Byte Labs, and sooo much dancing. Werk it like it’s the last day of Pride until 2017.
